R J Martin has long been fascinated by metallurgy and heat treatment, he has a degree in Materials Engineering and worked for 17 years in the aerospace industry including time at Sikorsky Aircraft, before retiring in 2001 to become a full-time knife maker. His approach to building knives blends functional design (ergonomics, balance) with high performance materials. His work demonstrates engineering precision and custom knife artistry.
