Tom Ploppert - Muskrat - sold

This is a Muskrat from the very talented Tom Ploppert. This slip joint features hand rubbed satin finished blades of PM154 steel (which has properties like CPM154) from SB Specialty Metals, the 416SS bolsters and liners are integral, this piece is of single spring construction i.e., both blades work off of the same spring, the thickness of the spring and the adjoining catch bit* are equal to the thickness of the spring. Both blades pivot on aluminum bronze bushings, the pins are domed, the Federal shield is SS and the scales are jigged bone. This knife is a true example of outstanding craftsmanship from a best of class knifemaker. This knife is new from Tom to me and has been in my personal collection, it is in mint condition.

* A catch bit allows the opposing blade to be full length. Without a catch bit the opposing blade can only be as long as the plunge cut. Tom incorporates catch bits on both ends.
