R. W. (Bob) Loveless - Utility Horn - sold

This is a very special Bob Loveless knife, his Utility Horn model. This knife features the script signature Riverside logo, a blade of ATS-34 steel with a polished finish, beautifully matched stag scales, a tapered tang, red liners and a lanyard hole.

Two things that make this knife very special knife. One is that it is a B.B.B. (Big Bad Bob) marked knife which, it is said, were knives so marked because these were knives that Bob made for himself. Second is that this is a named pattern that was made in very limited numbers. It is well known among Loveless collectors that Bob built many one-off pieces, there are a lot of different one-off pieces out there. It is rarer to find a known named pattern where only a few examples exist. I showed this piece to Jim Merritt who told me that he believed there were only 4 or 5 made. The pattern is identified and named in the famous Luigi Peppini book which shows his R.W.Loveless collection. An outline of the design for this knife is shown on the inside cover of the book and again on page 79. Pictures accompany this listing.

This knfe is in excellent condition and has been a safe queen in my collection for many years and prior to that the collection of the individual who received the knife directly from Bob.
